Mrs. Luke holds a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Miami University in Ohio and a Master of Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining MLCA, Mrs. Luke was a classical homeschool educator of 15 years and co-founder of The Mason Academy, a full K-12 program that supports homeschool families across the greater Philadelphia area. Mrs. Luke also served on the founding board of a Hillsdale College Barney Charter School. She was previously an elementary public-school teacher in Delaware County and worked in urban education in Washington, D.C., Southwest Philadelphia and Kensington.
Mrs. Luke loves old books. As a child, she enjoyed browsing through the books that filled her father’s library, some of which included her father’s, grandfather’s, and great-grandfather’s books from when they were students at Princeton. Today, she enjoys scouring Bookfinder for copies of volumes that are missing from her own collection. Some of her favorites are Ben-Hur, Beowulf, and Understood Betsy. Mrs. Luke is thrilled to be teaching at MLCA where children enjoy the delightful learning that comes from a rich, liberal education that engages a child’s natural curiosity.
